About us

Vansha Farming (Pty)Ltd t/a Ridgeback wines was established in 1996 by current owner Vernon Cole. After the early success of our Ridgeback Shiraz 2001, a 300 ton cellar, guest house and wine tasting center was quickly established. The name Ridgeback is inspired by the The Rhodesian Ridgeback dog that originates from Southern Africa, where legends and stories abound of their exploits and bravery in the African bushveld. Their tenacity and ruggedness are symbolic of the pioneering spirit of Africa while the pedigree, character and stature of this impressive animal is reflected in our wines and brand. The overriding policy at Ridgeback wines is quality which starts in the vineyards and carries through the production process to the final packaging and presentation of our wines. This is evident from the fact that all our wines, throughout all our tiers, consistently carry medals and awards of distinction and are well received in several global markets. At Ridgeback we truly strive to produce top quality wine with passion and integrity.

Vansha Red

Upfront notes of mulberry and dark cherries evolve to hints of mint and leather. A soft, juicy midpalate is well supported by the elegant oak tannin and long savoury finish.

Ridgeback Sauvignon blanc

A fresh, tropical array of lime, pineapple and green guava evolves to notes of gooseberry and passion fruit on the palate and flinty minerality elegantly lingering on the aftertaste.

Ridgeback Chenin blanc

Rich, upfront notes of pineapple and sweet orange blossom evolve to a fresh, juicy midpalate with hints of lemon zest and white peach lingering on the finish.

Ridgeback Shiraz

Ridgeback Jouney
